U2 — рок-группа из Дублина, Ирландия. Сформированная в 1976 году, U2, начиная с середины 80-х, является одной из самых популярных и успешных групп в мире. Было продано около 140 миллионов копий альбомов группы. По состоянию на 2006 год в их активе двадцать две премии «Грэмми», больше, чем у любой другой группы в мире. Группа была сформирована, когда Боно (вокал и гитара), Эдж (гитара, клавиши и вокал) и Адам Клейтон (бас-гитара) откликнулись на объявление, размещенное Ларри Малленом-мл.; в то время они были подростками-музыкантами средней руки. К середине 80-х они выпустили 4 альбома и обрели преданное движение фанатов, большей частью за счёт гастролей, неповторимого, ставшего визитной карточкой, исполнения гитарных партий Эджем, голоса Боно и глубоких по содержанию текстов песен.
